This is the default Zoom behaviour. Zoom is designed for meetings that are mainly composed of speech and not for more complex audio sources like music.

By default, Zoom will perform echo cancellation and noise reduction (music will be identified as noise by Zoom), and that is great if we only care to stream speech from a noisy place like an office.

How do I fix it?

You will need to disable all processing that Zoom does to your audio, before sending any complex audio signals like music or vocals with reverb to it.

In Zoom Settings > Audio, disable Automatically adjust microphone volume. Then click on Advanced and disable all audio suppression options. Also, check the Show in-meeting option to “Enable Original Sound” from microphone so you can switch to and from your original sound and Zoom speech-optimised audio.

To connect SoundDesk to other apps you will need the SoundDesk Virtual Cable (you can get it here). The Virtual Cable is just a pass-through device, capable of sending up to 32 channels to any application that is listening.

We need to start by setting the SoundDesk Output Interface to either the All-in-One Device or the SoundDesk Virtual Cable (stereo). If we choose the first, we can also (simultaneously) send audio to other audio devices (e.g. for listening).

Then, we set the master fader in SoundDesk to send to SoundDesk Virtual Cable (stereo) 1 and 2 and in the receiver application (e.g. Zoom, OBS,...) we set the microphone/input to SoundDesk Virtual Cable (stereo).

That’s it, we have virtually connected SoundDesk to another application.

Have a Great Day!
