When my Macbook goes in sleep / standby and is activated again, SoundDesk doesn't work after this and theres no sound output. I need to restart SoundDesk or toggle the sampling rate to make it work.
I have the same issue - SoundDesk will almost always loose both the Input and Output interface. Sometimes when I add the interface back the inputs and outputs come back. Sometimes I have to restart sounddesk or even the whole MBP, sometimes I have to re-assign them all again. It's hard to tell why but it's gotten worse with some of the latest releases for me.
So sometimes I get the error message that the core audio driver has restarted. But more often there is no error message at all. All that happens is that in Audio Setup my Input and Output Interfaces are set to None. And then because of that all the channel inputs are off and all outputs default to Master and the Master output is off. Sometimes Sounddesk just crashes outright.
From there the next steps vary. If I simply set up the Input and Output interfaces again then sometimes all the Channel Inputs and Outputs come back automatically. But sometimes they don't. Sometimes restarting helps and they come back - sometimes they don't. In the end if those two steps don't help, I have to manually re-assign all Channel Inputs and Outputs. This happens frequently - almost daily I would say.
I used to only use the All-In-One Device but have found it runs more stable if I run SoundDesk in conjunction with Loopback.
I've tried both assigning Loopback Virtual devices as the input and output and I have also tried sending Loopback output to the SoundDesk Virtual Cable. Both scenarios work but both suffer from the same issue once my Mac goes to sleep.
May 2024 / SoundDesk Version 5.0.5
App still hungs up after MacBook sleep mode.
Audio setup error message pops up:
"AIO Driver Overlod! Please Consider relaxing some settings or removing devices from AIO."
This error comes after wake up, no matter how slim the Sounddesk app is configured (2 channels, CPU usage around 3%)
After changing Sample rate (i.e. from 41 to 48 or vice versa) in SoundDesk audio setup, the app is working again. so it cannot be that big of a problem, but is pretty annoying ...
Isn't it possible to initalize / refresh the sampling rate after wakeup automatically?
For whom it may care, I took the beta version and it works without error message / hang up now. (MBP 2014 + Duet Gen1)
My way:
1. uninstall SoundDesk (make a backup of settings and configurations for safety)
2. Delete all virtual drivers in user and mac library/audio/ plugings / HAL
3. restart your Mac and install 507 beta and SoundDeskVD new
enjoy
Muchas gracias to the Loudlab development, it's far from common to support cases that are caused on such old systems like MBP 2014 and 2009 Apogee Duet !
To close the topic: I went back to OS Catalina with the old hardware with MBP mid 2014. It is simply the last truly compatible platform for the venerable Apogee Duet Firewire, but after that the compatibility fell apart.
Nevertheless, the system is now being put into the workshop as a pure audio measurement system, even though it would work.
Everything now runs smooth on a iMac 2020 with Sonoma and class compliant interface hardware (mTrack 2x2m alias Air192/6).

works better now, thanks! Still get a error message but runs fine.

Thank you for reporting. What does the error message say?

Be blessed and happy!
Yes can confirm it's still happening on my Macbook Pro as well.
This has been hard to reproduce, but I can reproduce it with a Duet on Apple Silicon.
If there is a dialogue, the problem is Core Audio related.
You can find a list of errors/warnings here.
Bug reproduced: audio stops working but everything UI is still functional.
A public beta has been made available here with a fix for this.
If you are having this or a similar issue, please install it and let me know.
